How PDF Repair Works
Most "broken" PDFs aren't actually missing content — their internal index (the cross-reference table) or trailer got corrupted, often from an interrupted download, a bad copy, or a buggy export. This tool reloads the file with a lenient parser that recovers whatever objects it still can, then rebuilds a fresh, valid file structure from scratch and hands you the result.
What It Can and Can't Fix
It can typically fix: broken or missing cross-reference tables, damaged trailers, and other structural errors that make PDF readers reject a file outright. It generally can't recover files that are severely truncated (cut off mid-download) or have had large chunks of raw data overwritten — in those cases some content may be unrecoverable no matter what tool you use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Repair happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript — the file never leaves your device.
Will this remove a password from my PDF?
No, that's a different problem. Use Unlock PDF to remove a password, or Protect PDF to add one.
What if repair doesn't fix my file?
If the tool can't even open the file, or the repaired copy is still missing pages, the underlying data is likely gone for good — repair can only rebuild structure, not recreate deleted content.
